  • Buying a Caterham

So after years of switching back and forth between cars, I've decided to go all out and buy my Caterham. I'm hoping to buy a higher mileage car, one worn enough that I wouldn't feel bad about using everyday, strapping my bike or snowboard to, and taking on long road trips back to Colorado. I've been checking every forum, craigslist, and ebay, despite wanting to buy in early December when I'll have enough of a down payment built up.

I was originally planning on building my own, but my lack of a good garage/driveway has resulted in me deciding on buying a complete car. I have enough room to perform maintenance and do some work on it.

I've usually checked the USA7s forum, but I've just moved to Southern California for my first post-college job. To be honest, I've sat in these cars, and heard from everyone that drives them that they're fantastic, but I've never been in one while it's moving. Is there anyone that would be willing to let me ride shotgun this weekend? I'm in Newport Beach but would be more than willing to drive around to take advantage of an empty seat. Thanks and I look forward to contributing to this forum more in the future.

This coming Sunday is SuperCar Sunday in Woodland Hills.

I can be there and if others come you can have a selection of rides.

Also check the for sale secton on this list as there were some listed that might be still available.

Going back 75 days shows two used and one new CSR 260

    Doug

PS If you are serious about buying you cannot ride passenger with me. You'll have to drive it. Ask V-Robb or prabjohns about it.

Definitely going to be there. I still haven't decided which type of seven I'm most interested in, so seeing several next to each other would be a great opportunity. I have checked the for sale section and the car closest to what I'm looking for is probably that 1998 Caterham 1600. I was hoping to get a car that I can customize and use regularly, and I would fee bad about buying a pristine csr to do this.

My budget right now is 22000, but I would spend more for exactly what I want.

And I absolutely will need to drive any car before I buy it, and would absolutely love to drive yours this weekend if you're willing. Should I pm V-Robb and prabjohns about seeing their cars? Thanks for the help.

I'm actually seeing this car this weekend. If it's exactly what I want I might be able to stretch what I've saved so far and get a loan now as opposed to December. Thanks for the tip though I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Fantastic looking forward to it! I'm beginning to think I should have found a job in Northwest LA I was up there last weekend for that vintage BMW meet and several weekends before that for some other events. I need to start finding car people closer to Newport or I'm going to know the 405 like I know Rainbow Road in MK64.

I believe Scott is located right around the corner from me in Culver City. Amazingly I've never run into him .

Barring my hall pass being taken away, I am likely to make SCS as well. Went for a drive this past sunday after not driving the car for while and I am back hooked on the "crack"

It's every Saturday morning 7am-9am at the Ford Premier Auto group- Mazda Campus in Irvine

Lots of exotics and vintage stuff, it's world famous. It's a great meet but a bit too far and too early for those of us up in the "north". Supercar sunday is of the same vein but up here in Woodland Hills. The nice thing about SCS is that it is close to the great roads in Malibu for some fun afterwards.
Cars and coffee has the 405 for some fun afterwards :p

Paul (prabjohns) has already checked in and V-Robb will probably be checking in soon.

SuperCar Sunday starts early, 7 AM and is done by 10 AM.

I'm a bit closer...just up the 55/57 from you, in La Habra Heights. You're welcome to a ride in my car. I'll probably be at SCS on Sunday, also.

I go to C&C occasionally, but usually in my TR3 rather than the Birkin. It's a great gathering, though I haven't seen any other Se7ens there.

Great can't wait to see your car. Thanks for the tip on that car I contacted them. It's a little out of the price range I set for myself, but I'll see it in person if it's still available.

Sounds like we're just going to have a meet! Looking forward to it.

EDIT - Contacted that guy with the S-1. He lives in Huntington which is next to my house. I'll probably be seeing it tomorrow.
