My feelings exactly about the big hammer. I did find one potential solution. A suggestion of using a bolt and a nut to spread the flanges farther apart. At least I won't take the frame and body with it that way.
If there are any other suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them.

I think Caterham is correct and that you should be able to get it together OK.

Upper wishbone rear mount
Hi,
I have a problem and could use some advice. The upper wishbone rear mount is slightly misaligned between 1/16 -1/8". I attached a picture as well. Please note that I am able to mount the upper and lower wishbone on the other side of the car.
Suggestions are welcome and appreciated. I have tried search blatchat as well.
This is what I receive from Caterham
