  • Sequential Gearbox

Just a quick note to introduce our company to you all.

Elite Racing Transmissions is based in San Diego and supplies a line of Sequential and H-Pattern gearboxes designed for GT racecars.

The small sequential gearbox, the ERT-IL-250S, was also designed to fit into the transmission tunnel of a Caterham for the UK market and is currently running in some cars in the UK.

This box features internal drop gears that eliminate the need for 'quick change' rear ends, it also has 5 independantly changeable ratios, all gears are selected by means of dog rings. This box is also available with 6 speeds.

For more information please visit our web site or give us a call at the numbers below, we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Are these G-boxes made in the UK or the USA, here in SD? As an SD local I'm going to cruise over and have a look sometime in April. I'll likely bring another 7 owner or two along.

The gearboxes are actually manufactured in the UK and Elite Racing Transmissions imports them into the US. I, Lee Williams, am the designer of the box, this was done on my first year in the US. This box has now been manufactured for both the UK and the US and we currently have the US version in stock.

The UK and the US version differ slightly in that the US version has slide on ratios in all positions, this being due to the fact that standing starts are not performed over here in GT racing. The idea was to keep the cost down when buying additional ratios, fixed firsts are also available.

The address on the web site is the office address and if you come along there is not much to see, except a messy desk!! Everything that will interest you is in a shop in Miramar, please call for details.

So is a fixed 1st w/ sliders the right way to go for a car that is used on the street? Standing starts are quite common in that arena.

Do you all offer a turnkey solution? That is, can you provide (or point to) a propshaft & gearchange mechanism that are correct & worked out for Caterham installations?

I liike the idea of a lightweight and (relatively) inexpensive sequential, provided the product is sorted for Caterham application.

              Chris

There is a full installation for the gearbox end already designed for the Caterham. We do not provide a Prop Shaft but we do adpatation and the gear shift lever.

As to your other question we do a fixed first shaft for the US version where you will still get the benefit of a 'dogged' reverse.

              Hope this helps,

              Lee

I'll try to arrange a visit in the next month or so as I've got a bunch of building permits to pull down that way. I'll ring up in advance.

                Thanks Lee.

This gearbox is now being fitted as standard to the 'ahem' Westfield cars in the UK.

We also have a transaxle installation available where the gearbox is integral with the differential and is fitted in the rear of the car.

Once again, please call for details and to arrange a viewing.
