  • Live axle caterham 1998 se classic 4 speed

    Dear all,

I am trying to change the rear axle seal (just dried out and small leak) on my cat 1998 with 4 speed ford live axle, ? is where should I check to know what to order, I assume there must be some kind of number stamped on the beast.
    Thank you for your time.

Have you tried Caterham UK's online store? http://www.caterham.co.uk/ or send an email to Caterham parts.

If not there you might also try a search on Blatchat http://www.blatchat.com/

See this link on Blatchat, you may be able to email the person with the manual and get instructions http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=213302

It may be a standard seal but the part number may not be visible until you remove it.

Buy two as the other side may be in need of replacing soon.

      Doug,

Thank you very much for your help, from your answer it seems like the all seven shipped to the US are already fitted with a UK axle?
      Best,

Most cars are fitted from the factory with the same live axle and or Sierra differential, at least until the last few years. I think they moved to a BMW differential for the DeDion but am not completely sure about that.

Yours is probably the Italia from the factory.
