  • Replacement headlight bulbs

I'd like to upgrade the headlight bulbs on my car. Ben at RMSCI/Caterham USA (new deal; I used to get Cody when I emailed!) says "take a headlight apart and see what's inside". I was hoping somebody (the US distributor, for example) might know what was inside the headlight assembly! Are our cars the same as the UK cars, needing this bulb:

Or are they US spec, needing something other than an H4 bulb, like an H7? I will pull the light apart, but, oh, never mind. I guess being an automobile dealer I had the insane notion that I could contact a seller of the marque, ask for a replacement part number, and actually get it.

I've replaced the bulb in my headlights recently.
You can pick up a replacement bulb at any local auto parts store, just take the bezzle off the assemble without removig the headlight lens then remove the clip on the back of the assembly. The bulb is a standard over the counter part.

sorry for teh delay in seeing he post. haven't been near a computer in a week. the bulb for the stock large lights was a h4. u can get a decent "+50" bulb for the if u get teh OSRAM silverstars. NOT the sylvania. since the Osrams are only sold in europe, u will probably use ebay. i purchased 3 sets for my subarus and 7 last year.

Danielsternlighting.com is another good, no BS source.

I ordered a pair of the Philips bulbs from Powerbulbs on the 24th. Their price was cheaper than the US online sources, once shipping was added, and they threw in a pair of side marker bulbs, free. I'll report on turnaround time and light quality, if anyone's interested.

Got the bulbs in a week and a half from the UK. Well packaged, and worth the wait. Low beams are much whiter and brighter, and high beams illuminate the road probably twice as far ahead. $45 well spent from www.powerbulbs.com.

I bought the new bulbs from the UK and my experience is the same. They came quickly, in about a week and a half. The new lights are much whiter and brighter. I highly recommend this change.
