Big Tujunga and Little Tujunga Canyon Roads (Chris???)

I was wondering if these roads are suitable for a Seven. Did somebody here try it? I would hate to go there and get stuck in potholes and gravel traps....

The daredevil bike riders have already mapped California's best roads for our convenience :!: Try www.pashnit.com I think you will find those roads and many others throughout the state where 7s can play. :D 8)

Little T isn't great. It's all either up or down, the road surface is fair to poor and the corners just aren't all that good. The penalty for a driving mistake is high.

Big T on the otherhand is a joy. There's two sections, lower and upper. Lower is similar to Little T inasmuch as it's basically all up or down however the corners are nice (only 1 decreasing radius - lookout). It was repaved about 2 years ago as well. Rocks are the big worry but keep your eyes peeled for cyclists (including me) as it's regularly used by local riders for training. It's a great climb.

Upper is connected to Lower via a short segment of the Angeles Forest Highway which is good road but more highly used. It connects the 2 w/ the 14 so it sees more cars than either of the Ts.

Upper Big T is a 9 mile dream although it's probably not the ultimate for a 7. The corners are sweepers and there's several straight parts where handcuff speeds are easily attained. It is a blast though - I reckon it'll be fun, and soon too...

Both have virtually no traffic by and large, at least on weekend mornings. I used to blast up and down in the NSX fairly regularly.

Btw, stay away from the 2. It's posted at 45 now and it's got more chips than FritoLays, especially on weekends. I guess they got tired of scraping up the massive numbers of 2 wheeled organ donors who continually were splattering themselves up there.

Thanks Chris, I will probably try Big T. this weekend. I hope I will not get run over by the bikers. I am not too afraid of rocks because of my armored sump.

I know, the nice Hwy 2 has become a pain in the butt. Not only the 45mph and the awful traffic. I also got busted there for not driving with headlights during the day (just forgot...)

To get to Lower Big T take the 210 then exit Lowell. Go straight through all traffic signals until you get to Foothill where you'll turn left. Go down Foothil until the Vons on your right (about 2 - 3 miles). The signal there is Mt. Gleason. Turn right and just follow it along. It'll be straight then curvy and then it Tees into Lower Big T. Turn right and turn up the whoopee meter. When you get to the top of lower Big T make a left on the Angeles Forest Highway. Follow it along for about 6 miles or so (you'll pass through a tunnel) and you'll see the signs for upper Big T. Turn right and turn it on.

I used to drive the upper section normal to med. fast for a bit of reconoitering. Once I found that there really wasn't anyone about I'd gas it up. I'll go up n down usually twice.

Oh, and don't worry about the scooters. They flat suck in corners and a 7 has enough hit to hang in the straights, at least up to about a buck. You'll blow them away in the twisties for sure.
