  • Half Car Cover

Does anyone know of a "half cover" outdoor cover that would cover the passenger compartment and boot only, for example while the car was waiting between autocross runs? I have seen something like this for the Lotus Elise and thought it might be an interesting idea.

You likely won't find anything off the shelf, or even anything like that lurking around in someone's garage. Best bet is to try

    here.

Don't know if they will build anything for other types of cars than Caterhams.

I made one myself, see attached image. This image is a little misleading because I took it with the rear straps loose and the (rigid) boot hatch open. But it is the only one I got of the cover, normally the cover fits taut over the top.

I went to the fabric store and bought a few yards of this latex coated stretch fabric, you know for the shiny domina style pants ;-) That is pretty much watertight and light weight (now I want to hear Chris' comments on that one....)

Sewed to fit over windshield and roll bar with small bunjees to strap down on the sides it rolls up to a foot-long small package when not in use. I think anybody with more than 2 hours of sewing experience can do this and it cost maybe 10 bucks. I use it mainly for overnight cover from rain and dew while touring.

I have a Soft Bits for Sevens Tunnel Bag from Jill & Nick; it's first rate, but was a LONG time coming. Tom, that looks pretty much exactly what I had in mind-thanks.
