  • Zetec Oil filter

What filter do you guys use with your zetecs? Mine is about 2-3" long and seems to fill up with dirt very fast because it is so small. Clearance is the issue. Anyone got a better alternative/idea?

That is really strange. With the relatively short oil change intervals typical for Se7ens (I believe most people change every 3000-5000 miles) even the small filters should not really "fill up" unless something is broken in the engine.

I had the small filters (I believe intended for some Japanese V6 or something like that) originally and no problems. I have the filter mounted remote now and a big filter can just because there is space enough.

You have to remember that Brad is really strange.

I use the NAPA Gold 1394 as recommended by Woody.

The gasket may overlap the inner edge of the sealing surface a bit but it works fine. No leaks so far.

If you buy one, pick up an extra for me and bring to the track.

      Thanks.

My oil is filthy after well less than 200 miles. Based upon the engines operation I have no reason to believe that there is anything "wrong". Most of those miles were hard use miles/autocross type. Still, the MobilOne is looking bad.

I am thinking about relocating the filter to accomodate a bigger one.

If you really want to know how "dirty" the oil is, Blackstonelabs or similar outfits do a very detailed oil analysis for something like $25. See attached sheet for my oil from last fall as example.
