Newbie to the list

As this is the place to introduce myself I'll do just that. I live in Victoria BC (Canada) and have joined your list as it seems to be fairly active which I like. I got my '92 Caterham Super 7 last week with only 19,000K on it. The car has the Kent 1700cc motor with a four speed. I'm mid 50's and one of my hobbies is to restore old English classic sports cars, in fact, I think I enjoy the restoration process more than driving them.

I'm going to have lots of questions in the next few weeks, as this is a new toy and I have a thirst for knowledge on my new toys! I also have owned (and restored, even paint) my '64 TVR and my '67 Morgan.

I have one big question (problem) right away I'll post in the correct place.

Nice lineup! 60s TVRs are way cool.

I've spent a good deal of time thereabouts. When you're out on a sunny, top-down kind of day driving downtown have a look at the Sussex. I drew that one a long time ago for Merrick Architects. Saving the terra cotta facade while blasting out a bunch of BC granite from underneath it was something of a challenge. Most recently (2006 - yikes!) I did quite a lot of work on the Social Sciences & Mathematics Building for UVIC. Then I moved across the stream to draw & help build the 2010 Winter Olympics Athletes Village.

For the record, I'm partial to Vic. Waaay more friendly, now that Vancouver's gone all urban and modern and stuff. :-D

Welcome to the neighborhood. There's a few X-flow solid axle guys hereabouts, all of them quite knowledgeable.

Welcome! That is a fine looking crossflow 7 you have. It doesn't look like you have much work to do there!

I understand that motor has been rebuilt by a FF builder due to a vehicle theft/joy ride. It sounds like it's making good power, but maybe needs a carb adjustment. I'd suggest joining the yahoo group "sidedraft central" for some hints and tips. If it has a flat spot, you also may want to check the advance curve to make sure it's not advancing too late.

Nope, not this motor... you may be thinking of the same car for sale for 23K in Seattle. This car came here via Japan directly to the previous owner who I know.
