  • Not a new owner yet, but I have dreams

Hello, my name is Myron. I live in Fresno CA and currrently drive a highly modified Miata. It's up for sale and it WILL be replaced with a Westfield (yea I know it's not a Caterham but since I know the Miata drivetrain backwards and forwards, it's a logical direction for me to go). I figured this would be a great place to meet likeminded people who value philosophy of less is more. For a pics and a semi out of date build diary of my Miata (AKA 2/3rdsCobra) go to http://www.cardomain.com/ride/856245...da-miata-mx-5/ .

    Myron

Based on your website you are at least a bit off / terminal gearhead which means you will fit right in.

    Welcome to the group.

Come out next time we do Buttonwillow if you can.

    Doug

Thanks all. Doug, what event organizers do you run with? A ways back, I was a member of Checker Flag Racing Association, then NASA north, then SV and most recently NCRC (they are the least expensive). I'm trying to sell my Miata so I'm planning on taking it to a Shift Sector event @ Buttonwillow on March 1st. Lots of high end exotics. Most of those people don't want to wad up their 100000+ dollar exotic so I'm hoping to convince them that my $18000.00 Miata is a good investment for a fun track day car. FYI, check out http://www.ncracing.org/events.php. I may be persuaded to go to the April Buttonwillow event too. I'd love to check out a few Caterhams.

We try to run events with at least the Alfa Owners of So. Cal. AROSC. Both at Buttonwillow and Willow Springs.

The do an event in May or June with the NCRC and have a two hour enduro Saturday evening.

We used to run with NASA but that died with when the economy did.

Welcome to the club. Not many Westfields here. My Westfield kit is scheduled to arrive on Monday. Been refurbing the Miata donor parts since October.

Dan, where did you purchase your westie from? Any plans/upgrades for it?

Flyin' Miata is the US dealer for all Miata donor Westfields. I placed my order with a 20% down payment in August and it's taken until now to arrive in the US. Manik is the US importer for all Westfield products; the elevens and X-cars in addition to the 7 style cars.

My plans for it? To drive it on the roads. Do some traveling. I'll think about upgrades after it's on the road for awhile. I'm in a hurry to get it built because I'm moving to West Texas later this year and I want to move it as a finished car, not a project in progress.

Same here.... Am going to buy later this year or next sprint but deciding what to buy is a nightmare. I think there is a market for a car that has all the "good features," but no one seems to build one. My car will be a Caterham, Westfield, GBS Zero or Birkin. I favour the Birkin (this month) be last month I favoured the GBS Zero. Who knows what will be my flavour-of-the-month next month....

                  Regards,

                  Steve
