  • Some pics of the Grizzly Bear Blat

Was a fabulous trip and this time I did not even have to organize it. Total 4700 miles, 1800 of that towing. $920 spent on gas
Usually 10-12 Sevens and most of them from the UK. Weather was mostly nice with 2-3 days of rain. No major issues other than a medical emergency of one tour participant (temporary) and a hit-and-run black bear (not my car).

Any pics of the bear post accident? Was he a survivor?

Another example of a 7 being a bear bones car.

I came to the scene shortly after the wildlife left. I was told the good sized bear came out of the shrubbery straight across the highway at pretty good speed and they hit him (or her) straight on. Being quite low the Caterham flipped the bear up and across the highway into the ditch. There it sat unconscious, bleeding from the snout for 10 minutes before trundling off into the woods. The rangers were notified but did not go after the bear because they would not find him and if they did, probably not in a good mood. So, maybe the bear survived or maybe not. The Caterham did survive with a radiator transplant, minor tube straightening and a lot of duct tape. The car's occupants were obviously lucky that the bears' trajectory did not end in their lap or face. I found it fascinating, that the gel coat cracks of the stressed nose cone on impact grabbed some of the bear's fur and ripped the hair out.
