No way! That is amazing....You just made my day. But I guess I am getting carried away ;-)

Now on a more serious note: you get it coated or do it yourself? With a few hundred heat guns you could probably turn your garage into a curing oven.
Or is there another trick?

I just welded up my new front wing stays (that broke on the last summer tour) and considered powder coating but cheaped out with spray can truck bed liner. After sand blasting it sticks very well and looks almost powder coated.

The original paint was such shit on mine. The shop didn't even remove the shop oil from the steel before painting the thing and no primer of course so it bubbled and cracked almost immediately. When I did my cheeseball re-spray of the wheel trays I could literally scrape the original paint off w/ a putty knife.

A skrack job, a few buckets of Simple Green, 3 cans of hardware store primer and 6 cans of flat black later I had adequate protection. Hot slicks tend to play hell w/ the paint so that was enough for me. Like my car it ain't no Leno Show so that was good enough for me. I'll have to re-do bits of it sometime this year I suppose.

Magnus, how are your electrics holding up. After sitting outside all of the time mine are completely gone. I'm going to have to suss that one out too.

I dropped off the trailer, as is, at Primo powder coating in Huntington Beach. They were recommended by two people.

$1000 plus a $75 donation (long story) will give me a complete sandblasting, zinc primer and matte black powder coating of everything including wheels.

I'll probably pick it up Friday.

Chris: The electrics have held up poorly with lots of broken connections. Luckily, I can just roll it down to Zentec and steal some of their wiring and connectors to repair whatever is shot.

The summary of the whole mighty mover trailer experience seems to be that the mechanics is very good, but the finishing has an, let's say Italian feel to it.

I totally agree - good design, poor execution. It tows like a dream, but...

Pick up 2 of whatever you're getting at Zentec. No doubt I'll need them too.

Magnus, how do you tie the car down to your trailer? A tiedown at each wheel?

I have a tiedown at each wheel, which are cumbersome to get in place. One day, I'll probably get wheel nets to save 10 minutes of the loading/unloading procedure.

Very nice Magnus. If it's any consolation, my custom built trailer cost 40% more than yours and the paint job looks like it was done outside the pub at midnight after many beers. But these things do tow well. My best effort is a run up the grapevine (leaving LA) covering the entire distance from "last fuel for xxx miles" to Rancho Terwhatsit with the fuel light on. Later that same trip I sat on 90 for about an hour and a half up I5 - solid as a rock.

Mine weighs in at just under 800 lbs including tire rack and tool box. What does yours weigh?

I didn't think they were that heavy. Wow. Whatever, they tow so well. Even The Venerable One can pull it over the Grapevine w/ no problem, upside or downside.

Nets are about a buck twenty. I just use the usual motorcycle tie-downs to anchor the car. Once through each wheel and it's done, no big deal.
