For sure, but need to give it a little time for patrols to settle down and all the idiots to crash.

That said, last time I gave it a little time after a reopening, there was the fire and never got the chance to drive it all the way to Wrightwood

I was considering this, too, until I found the muffler needs some attention. So, waiting for some packing material.

I didn't think I'd be able to, but after my out-of-town guests left, I took an afternoon run up Angeles Crest to the tunnels. The pavement was almost all newly laid and all of it was great with surprisingly little traffic. Two bike mounted CHPies were working the road pretty hard, but I was just holding a steady 50mph so I had no worries.

V-Robb, how was the road between the tunnels and Wrightwood?

Be careful, I got a ticket there for doing 59.

I was going to head up on the moto but I wasn't that motivated. While the 2 is scenic, the presence of all the billions of SoCal sluggos and heavy patrol by the CHP really means that it's over rated as a fun driving road. The speed limit is 45 and there's enough enforcement to make sure that you stay well close. It's more annoying than fun, on weekends anyway.

For me its re-opening means mostly that the loops can now be done on the bicycle properly - no more back the same way up. Whew.

It's only 45 until the Mt Wilson turn off. After that, it's a more reasonable 55. Although Newcomb's lot was full, there was very little traffic.

Yeah, well, it only takes one, except on a moto. Then illegal overtaking (it's double yellow all the frickin way full stop, 55 or 45) is a little less, um, exposing.
