  • A couple of Seven's in the hills today

Went out for a 1/1/10 drive today with a friend and probably 100 cars showed up at the lookout including these.

Blue one is a 91 or 92 Caterham, Cosworth powered with 245hp, met the owner

    The second is a Lotus 7 (S3)

The funny thing is my wife goes " What is that car a Morgan ? " and I said "No that's a Caterham but there is a Morgan driving it " -delise

So who is the owner of the Caterham?

Is he a member of this website?

Did your car start off the New Year by breaking down?

His name is Carl, I got his contact info. He had not heard of this site and didn't know there was more of us.

There was another guy up there driving a Mustang GT350 that said he had a Caterham (green and yellow) as well, he lives in Santa Monica

Car ran fantastic, had an amazing drive! No breakdowns.

Interestingly (to me at least) was I had a passenger that swapped in between the extremely fast 300+hp Ariel Atom that belongs to a friend of mine and my car and he thought the Cat was more exciting :D

Morgan, what lookout is that? It looks familiar so maybe I've been there on one of the Maliblats?
        Thanks,

The overlook is on Mulholland just west of the Rock Store. Almost to Kanan RD. If you've been with us at the Rock Store you have probably been there.

There is a guy named Ross that drives a green and yellow pre Crossflow powered 7. I think he lives in SM.

                M. Bedard mentioned a guy named Carl a few times. Think he became "hard to find" at some point a couple years back. This may be the gent. Said to be a good guy and was an active 7er for a while. Clean looking Cosworth installation!!

Hope we see him on this site.....

                  It's "Carl"

I'm the midnight blue seven owner. It’s registered as a 64 Lotus. I use to hang out with Michael Bedard, Ross Harmon, David Mathison, Joe Kelley, and a few others. I dropped out when I met my now wife. I have not seen or herd from Michael since then. The green seven belongs to David Mathison who also owns a Lotus Elite. Ross and I have our cars in SM. David lives in Manhattan Beach now. It was a big reunion for the three of us.

                    Welcome.

Bedard moved back to Toronto as I understand it. Kind of a shame as he was pretty fun to hoon around with. You may know Jon Stokes (Stokes Tire Pros - 11th & SM Blvd.) who used to hang around w/ Michael. He has an Bright Green 04 Caterham that's he uses only on track. He also drives an Esprit.

Wow. I've lived in Manhattan Beach for almost 3 years and haven't seen the green Seven. Can you private message me David's email?

                      Thanks.

Jon Stokes was riding a Ducati when I knew him. He fell off it in a race and did not want to repeat that episode. I’ve had my share of mishaps but the only one I needed a tow for was when the DeDion tube cracked in half. Caterham had discovered the flaw but never notified their customers with flawed DeDion tubes. Do you know if Jon sold the busness? When I went buy a couple of weeks ago it did not have the same atmosphere as when I saw Jon there.

Well, Jon has had a few interesting days on-track in his Caterham too. Happily he's suffered no injury other than those that require wallet-ectomy surgery to repair the car. His car is completely track focused and is very fast. Towards the end of this season he really had it dialed and he was putting in some very quick times. He and I are the most active track drivers hereabouts. He can't (and doesn't want to) use his car on public roads (unlicensed) and I rarely do. The public way just isn't that much fun - too slow, too many cops and vastly more dangerous than the track. Once you've gone track you never go back.:D

Is that anything like Mar Vista? I lived on Centanela near Biona 90 before HB.
