Thanks for the link MoPho!
Noticed:
The Caterham would have done even better w/ out the 3 airbrakes.
That guy was seriously over-driving the car.
Slicks are sooo much better than street tires.
Horsepower matters only on the straights.
Weight is everything.Chris

My car is coming with the Avon CR500 tires, I think. I wonder if the driver in this video was using them, and if they squeel as bad as that? I was hoping they were sort of a soft street/track tire. If so, I'll be switching to Kumhos pretty quickly!

Speaking of rides, I had a very crazy ride around the infield at Cal Speedway yesterday in a Lamborghini Murcielago LP-640 with an up and coming Indy Car driver at the helm, 150mph down the straight, up on two wheels over some of the curbing, full opposite lock drifts exiting the corners, it was a lot of fun. Almost as good as the ride in a WRC car I got a few years agowww.morgansegal.com

The trouble w/ the Ring isn't the speed, it's the sheer quantity of corners, particularly unsighted ones. The times I've driven it that was the most daunting part. The locals know them all too well of course and can make seriously fast times around there in mid 80sW Rabbits and such like.Last edited by moosetestbestanden; October 28, 2009, 09:45 PM.Chris

Actually, I did drive the Lambo around the track (as well as 19 other cars over the past two days) and it was way more fun/exciting having him drive as I could get nowhere near the capabilities of that car.
Brought the seven, but I wasn't allowed to drive it on the track.
Can't afford track days anymore (this one was on the car manufacturers dime) :(www.morgansegal.com

There are some pretty cool bits in the video.
I have 2 favorites:
At about 1:50 in the video, getting airborne at Flugplatz is classic. Very nice recovery too.
The pass on the downhill and subsequent recovery at Wehrseifen, just before Ex Muhl is way cool. That hairpin can be exciting. You are going downhill and all you can see at the entry is an Armco barrier directly in front of you. Pretty intimidating.
Another thing to note: Either that video camera has some good vibration damping or the Caterham has some seriously great suspension. This is particularly evident at Carrocciola. In the flesh, that caroussel is fantastically rough. It just hammers you and puts the car full on the compression stops if you are truly on it.
Here is a link to another great 'Ring video. While this one doesn't have any Seven content, it is really impressive. It's Hans Stuck in a BMW M3 GTR. I think that it was practice for the 24 hours or something similar. It starts out on the Sudschleife and then goes onto the Nordschleife.

WOW!
Talk about commitment! I like the 4:20 mark at the end of the long straight, a dab on the brakes, down one gear and back on it FLAT!!
