I installed a tow hitch on my Saab today in preparation for the upcoming season. Next step is to wire up the brake controller that I bought from Gert a long time ago.
No, but worked on it all day :) in T-shirt and shorts. At one time I had to get the patio umbrella.
The installation of that fire suppression system turned out to be a little bigger effort, due to the need to route the tubing in a reasonable way, i.e. to remove scuttle, roll-bar, seats and boot.
But, that allows me to finally improve the method of fastening the scuttle. Not sure how that is with a Caterham, but with my car you had to remove some 8 screws with the head on the engine side and the nut hard to reach under the scuttle. Additionally the screws that hold the brake/clutch fluid reservoirs and the steering column bulkhead seal. Silly.
My target is to be able to remove the scuttle in under 2 minutes.
Talking about the upcoming season....what are the track day plans?
I took advantage of the perfect weather, and had a nice drive in my Birkin. I got a late start, and I was a bit concerned that I would run into bad traffic on the Angeles Crest Highway--all those flat-landers crowding to gawk at snow usually plug the roads on winter weekends. As it happened, I had the road nearly to myself. I had to pass one car on the way up, and two on the way back down. Other than that, the road was clear.
It was warm up to Newcombs, but a bit chilly by the ski areas. It was warm at the tunnels, though, so I had a chance to thaw out a bit before heading back down the mountain. I took the side trip up to Mt. Wilson...that was fun since a few corners were covered in sand. Slipping around those kept me on my toes, as did keeping alert for the many large rocks on the roadway.
Yes, I did a nice drive in up to Crestline for coffee and lunch. Mid 70's here in the desert but a few patches of snow still in the shade in Crestline. Still it was more crisp than cold, very nice with little traffic. A fun way to honor No. 6!
I'll call my SAAB mechanic tomorrow and book a time for installing the brake controller, which is the last piece necessary before I can get your car over to my place. I'll ping you when everything is done.

I actually drove down the coast to San Clemente. I was going to install the new bodywork, but it seemed that could be reserved for foul weather. At this rate, I'll accomplish nothing!
On account of this perfect weather I broke down (pun intended, sorry mopho) and drove the car on the public way, Art Center loop. I always have to remind myself that anywhere near the car's limits is way out-of-bounds out in the world. No problem w/ that yesterday - just putting around was very pleasant in such sunshine.
It was ideal too given that the football games reduced the moron factor to near zero. Here's to perfect weather come StuporBowl Sunday then!
