Ha! It's snowing up here again right now. Shouldn't accumulate like it did last week:

Snow? You want to talk about snow? This is Seattle. Let's just say that my traditional Christmas day blat didn't happen this year.

Chris , you are right: where were you guys? Nice blat today.

Well, that means TODAY. Beautiful weather, view out over the whole basin to Catalina. Only problem all these folks sneaking up Hwy2 to get a glimpse of the snow. Oh well, back on Angeles Forest Road and Big Tujunga was a blast. Lots of rocky debris on the road, though. Quicky 1-hour trip but very worthwhile.

Now, Chris....when did you use your Seven last time? And for that matter....did you finally install that tasty Ammo engine (not to mention the Raceco muffler)?

I vaguely remenber taking it out on the little Art Center loop I do, maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago. Then pottered over to the market. Kids sure love em (particularly me:D).

Enginie still in Suffolk, can still sitting on the pinball machine in the garage, hub upgrade still sitting under the workbench, moto still commuting me to Santa Monica (level 7, Dante's Inferno) for work. For now. Nothing quite like the self-regulating nature of "free markets", eh?

            O.K., that counts.

You may have talked about that before. But is Ammo holding that new engine for a ransom? IIRC this is going on for some 2 years now?

It's kind of 1-off inasmuch as it's 1mm over w/ different cams & springs. So the issue is how to map it. The notion of removing someone's engine, installing mine, mapping, reverse, is nuts. So we've been waiting for a engine brake to become ready at Emerald but that's taken forever. Then there's the TB's to consider (what size), exhaust primaries & ECU. Add all of that up and it equals the wait. It also equals major expense, which is problematic given the current state of the architecture & construction business. So, wait I do.

I read all of these threads on boards claiming this and that about power and what I see written doesn't match my experience. It's not all about power, in some places at least. At Buttonwillow last Nov. I was w/in 2 secs. of Jon's best time, and w/in 1.5 secs. of the class track record. Had it been a little warmer I might have gotten closer still to the class record. I put it down mostly to the sticky qualifying tires (the right compound for the track) that I was using.

Of course, at the power tracks I certainly need and want more power. But that's all about straight line speed and acceleration and not much else and the cheap ribbon & pot metal hanging in the garage sort of proves it. I feel pretty good about what I'm doing w/ what I've got.

Edit: Besides, I still think I'll get it installed and running before Sean gets his car out on the road:D

I hope you didn't place any bets on it...
                ;)

edit -- back on the topic: Fine t-shirt and jeans sunny weather in Carmel today. I was doing road reconnaissance in the back of my mind the whole time...

I think I get the idea. But I would find it anyway annoying. At least you have a decent toy to play with in the meantime.

Before I had my cylinder head work done by a company in Illinois I had Ammo quote on it, him being one of the ZX1 tuners of fame (before he got sidetracked with these pewter Duratecs). But at a certain point the logistics, exchange issues, shipping cost and slight differences of a US made ZX1 for Ammo had me give that up. Glad I did....

That probably makes two of you. I've considered a number of alternatives, the best one being selling my car and building a full-on CC race chassis over there. for the Le Sept trip. Those missing lottery numbers have precluded that one.

I'm considering shipping the engine here this spring and map it w/ the bits that I would transfer from my current setup. This would be sub-optimal but pragmatic, something both against and with my German Nature. However, I'm doing pretty well in-class as is so I'm prepared to wait too. Sooo...
