  • Hello, All!

Hello, all you lucky 7 owners. I'm Steve, and I love 7's. Unfortunately, i'm 21, caught in the rat-race, and really can't afford one (anytime soon) :(. I've been interested in cars for a while, but unfortunately, nobody else in my house when I was growing up was interested in cars, so I never had the 'dad with a car in the garage' thing. So, i'm teaching myself now, and thats taking its fair share of time and money :)

To me, cars that are light, and quick are so much more fun than BIG, heavy, hard to handle cars.

But, I thought I would sign up for this forum so I can read about all the woes and bummers, and little things that happen with Caterham ownership, so one day, when I've got one parked in my garage, I won't be suprised by anything.

Currently, i'm driving an '86 RX-7, it's a fun car, but I would love to get into autocross etc... and I think with gas and our economy right now, having a dedicated track car is the way to go.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello, and next time you're crusing in your 7, and there's a drooling idiot in a blue Rx-7 honking at you, wave!

There are plenty of cars that I would do the trick in the autoX department, but to me, an open wheeled car like the 7 would be awesome.

Becides, i'm not a big fan of the mini cooper... I think its horribly ugly, and idiot drivers are starting to give the cooper a stigma that I don't like.

I'm not sure you can say that.

You have no idea how much more fun. Yet. You're on the right track (pun intended) for sure, so much so that even the, ahem, big car manufacturers and their amazingly slow-to-get-it customers are starting to actually get it. Slowly. Eventually. $5.00 / gallon gas is finally starting to impact their thinking, such as they're able.

When you're able, make sure you build it yourself, because then you won't be surprised by anything. You'll know it completely. These cars are simple (everything you need and nothing you don't), surprisingly reliable, and robust. It's been in production for 51 years.

PS: my dad wasn't or isn't a car guy either. It didn't or doesn't matter, not at all.

Edit: the fellas go out fairly regularly. If you're in the area check out the events section and maybe pop by when someone's out and about. I'm sure a ride will be on offer.
