  • T9 Bellhousing

I'm in need of a bellhousing to mate a T9 5-speed gearbox to a Kent engine. I need to retain the standard Cortina flywheel / starter interface.

anybody have one that they want to sell?

    Regards,
    Ron

I have one that was made to convert a Crossflow to Zetec so I assume it would work. The problem is, it's on the car and I'd need the newer version to replace it, I would not mind pulling it out to get the type that has the annular throw out bearing.

You might also look at the bell housing from the XR4Ti. They use a T9 but I don't know if the pattern on the block is correct. Plus they are cast iron.

It is my understanding that the Zetec, Kent and Pinto (SOHC) all share a common bolt pattern. So it should bolt up. The next concern is the starter / flywheel interface. I'd like to stay with my nice lightweight Cortina /
Anglia / Escort style flywheel. Do you know what size your flywheel is? Or what type of starter that you're using?

Is there any chance that you might have some pics of the bellhousing that you could share? Especially WRT the starter.

Here are a couple of pics that show the starter interface. Both are to bolt up to the Kent engine. The top one, with three bolt holes, supports the late Ford style starter. And I'm not sure, but I'm concerned that it may not take the starter that I have ('60s EnFo 2-bolt style) and/or a different flywheel to provide the proper starter engagement. The bottom one is for the standard Cortina starter and flywheel combination. Note the 2-bolt starter mounting interface:

Four of the six bolts that mate the bellhousing to the block are common on the 2.3L engine (Lima) bellhousing interface pattern. But the two top bolts are about an inch or so higher than on the Kent / Zetec / Pinto pattern. So it almos bolts up This pic shows an aluminum Ford /T9 bellhousing from an XR4TI. Note the additional height for the top pair of mounting bolt holes:t

Does your setup use a cable to actuate the clutch or an external hydraulic slave cylinder?

      I'll send you a PM.
