Gosh, truck motor cranks. Do go on. Crusty the tow truck has one too.

When ya'll figure out that hp = torque * rpm / 5252 let me know. 9000 - 6750 = 2250, a big number. Big changes in RPM means way more hp then, doesn't it? And all right where you want it too, when that fucker in the Corvette or EVO has to change up, you don't. Then you can stick it in front of him and be later on the brakes too! Buh bye.

Sounds great too, I hope. Later this year, I hope. Finally.:D

    Sorry.

6750 is the limit of the MS3 engine itself. I have no data on the crank.

Magnus, where did you find the 6750rpm limit for the MS3 crank? It seems odd that a forged steel version would have a lower limit than the regular crank in a Ranger.

A bit of googling gave the answer: 6750.

    Hmm.

I wonder what kind of RPM that crank can take. The ranger 2.3L crank, according to Cosworth, does not like more than 7500RPM (7800 briefly), which is a limiting factor if you start to move to more exotic head configurations.

    Forged duratec crank?

    Just saw this on ebay:

I did not realize that the MazdaSpeed 3 motor was a duratec. With forged rods/pistons/crank! I wonder if this crank would fit in a Ranger 2.3L block?

FYI, you can get a new 2.3L MazdaSpeed short block for ~$3K. http://www.streetunit.com/MZR_Short_...p/su02200d.htm
