Wanted: Doors

Interested in getting some doors for my Seven. Full doors, half-doors, whatever - better than nothing, I reckon, which is what I have now.

MOG carbon half doors, but you have to go to Germany to buy them, or to Fluke Motorsports who will sell them on. He won't sell direct to the states on the advice of his lawyer, as I remember it. I don't think Richard in France at www.carbon-bits.com makes doors.

Well, after selling one kidney to get the car I have, I guess I could just go ahead and sell the other one to get some carbon half-doors...

Actually, Fluke advertise آ£135.00 ($267.88 at today's rate, according to Yahoo Finance) per side for the MOG carbon half-doors, before shipping, vs. $277.20 per side for the fabric standard doors and $302.40 per side for the fabric JPE half-doors advertised by RMSCI. Granted, MOG carbon fiber is not "true" carbon fiber, but still, one would think it would cost more than the JPE doors - that's some pricey canvas!

Maybe I should have phrased my original inquiry more along the lines of: does anybody know of any second-hand doors that might be available?

I'm not sure what that means but in any case they're not stressed and they are light - they are gossamer thin. As it happens, their primary real function is in keeping all the little pebbles out of the car. And they *do* look great. Carbon fiber fashion (some would say fetish) is all the rage doncha know.:D

Most MOG carbon parts are a sandwich construction, with an inner and outer face sheet of carbon, and something else as the core. My car has MOG "wings" (fenders) and nosecone, and wherever there is a complex bend, the carbon look ends and it is solid black on the curved part. May be different on their sidescreens or other parts. I don't know. Not a big deal to me, but that's just what they are. A true carbon fetishist might scoff though.

A benefit of half-doors is that, in combination with an aeroscreen and a half-tonneau, wind buffetting all but disappears, its not much more than what comes in with a full windscreen and full doors. The lowered floor also helps drivers over six feet tall.

The advantage of the fabric half-door door, vs a solid one, is that the top of the fabric one will unbutton and the door will hinge down for easier entry/exit.
