  • Holiblat Anybody?

Doug suggested a blat sometimes over the holidays and I chimed in with a proposal of a nice long drive through Angeles Forest, Lake Elizabeth, Pine Canyon to Gorman, Lockwood Valley, Ojai, Santa Paula and back. My Se7en has been sitting idle for over 2 months and needs a walk.

Not sure yet which day, but 29th, 30th or 31st?

    Anybody else interested?

    Gert

    Maybe after New Years??

Can't make anything the week between Christmas and New Years - family get-togethers and maybe some skiing, you know. But how about the weekend after New Years? Should be light traffic too.

    Holiday Cheers,
    Clark

I'd like to, however I'm working Monday thru Friday that week so would only be available on Saturday (31st). My fettling should be done by then (installing a catch-can from Woody) so let me know if you decide to go!

Cool, maybe we can hone in on New Year's Eve? The morning of that day, of course.

          Doug, good day for you?

Stan, would the described route still be doable? We could meet in Palmdale but I estimate round trip 280-290 miles fom Victorville if you go back via Santa Clarita.

Anybody expecting a lot of traffic on New Year's Eve Saturday? At least the long term weather forecast shows sun and mid 70's for this weekend.

            The 31st should be OK.

I think its doable for me from Victorville. I could meet you by the big wooden sign on Angeles Forest Hwy just before the Mt. Emma Rd. intersection, if thats the way you were planning to go.

I would have to study the map to see the best way for me to get back to Victorville from Santa Paula. I have no idea what traffic will be like on New Year's Eve day, but I'll bet the earlier we start, the better!

Stan, Mt. Emma Rd is a possibility. However, you may save some 8 miles if we meet at the end of the Pearblossom Hwy. (Joining with Sierra Hwy.). Return from Santa Paula via Santa Clarita and Palmdale is some 30 miles shorter than on the 210 Fwy and probably much nicer drive, anyway.

Doug, where would you want to meet? I am flexible: Angeles Crest (La Canada), Big Tujunga or Little Tujunga?

Gert, I'll wait and see what route you and Doug decide to take to Palmdale before deciding where to meet. I was thinking of going up through Wrightwood and Big Pines Hwy to Angeles Forest Hwy via Mt. Emma Rd..
I tend to avoid the 138 (Pearblossom Hwy) through Littlerock and Pearblossom since there is no passing but plenty of slow RV's.
I'm looking forward to a blat!

Already decided: we will take Angeles Crest/Angeles Forest Hwy. and meet at 8 am in La Canada. Normally we would be around 8:45 at the Mt. Emma Rd. junction.

So, why don't we say between 8:45 and 9:00am there?

                    Gert

                    P.S.: Anybody else coming?

                          Gert and anyone else interested

No rule says we cannot do more than one over the holidays.

Anyone interested in a drive on the 27th, 28th, or 29th. let me know.

We could do a local drive in the Santa Monica Mountains.

Gert and Doug, the weather forecast for Saturday isn't looking very good. I would hate to have you guys miss a chance for a nice blat, so if you want to move it up to Thursday or Friday to catch the good weather, you wouldn't hurt my feelings! Just let me know.

Gert is traveling until Thursday and was planning on Friday to get the car ready.

                              See you there unless raining.
