  • *** What's happening at Infineon tomorrow ? ***

    Hi all

I've booked a day off work to drive up to Sear's Point tomorrow and would like some more details :

What time are people arriving ?
What is the route into the race-course ?
Can I participate in the drive in / out ?

Please, please, please ... give me lots of information.

I have also booked the day off tomorrow to go to Infineon. I can't answer any of your questions, but I have read in this thread that they will take to the track during the lunch break of the driving class (around lunchtime :D ).

    Edited to add:
Also, the big tour map on Steve Blair's web page here reads, "FINISH San Francisco, CA 3rd to 6th October", so maybe they're driving through San Ho right about now?

Thanks Sean. I'd read the other thread, but knowing that they will be driving practically past my house, I was rather hoping to tag along on the drive up. There was some talk on another thread of going up route 1 and Skyline on the way to the race track. However, I don't fancy camping out on Skyline tomorrow morning just on the off-chance I might see some Sevens go by !

I live where 85 meets 101 (at the South end). Where are you Sean ? Perhaps at the very least we could form a token "convoy" of 2 :)

I live near where 87 meets 280, but since I don't yet have a Seven, I'll be driving up in a 1995 Honda Accord. I'd be happy to follow you up, though. On one hand, it's safer to travel that way; on the other, maybe I'd just slow you down.

I think the tour group is driving into San Francisco today.

          Hi Wayne,

I arranged the activities at the track. But I don't know the group's plans for getting there since I'll be arriving from the opposite direction - probably around 9:30 am. I believe, however, that the group will spend tonight in San Francisco and then make the relatively short drive to Infineon tomorrow morning.

If you want to drive on the track (sevens only) your car must be ready to go on the track and parked on the pre-grid by 11:00 am - located at the north end of the NASCAR garages. The Russell School has reserved 11:00 as the time for the Chief Instructor to meet with all drivers, and the sevens are to be ready to roll out immediately after that, whenever the school lunch break begins.

BYO lunch at the snack bar, and pictures are planned after the track time.

Thanks for the reply Rich. I think I'll just go straight to the track. My car's already track-prep'ed since I was at Thunderhill yesterday. Had a great time ..... :D

Sean - given where you are and the fact that it looks like meeting up with the others is not going to happen, I'm going to go straight up 101 / 680 to the track. I hope you don't mind. I'll see you there. I'm driving a yellow Caterham with license plate "ITS A 7".

              Guys,

I'm going too. I live in Hillsborough and could meet you somewhere on the 280 - say at the Black Mountain Road intersection at 9 am? Cell: 310 497 0618.

                Hi Michael

I toyed with the idea of going that way, but the idea of driving through S.F. put me off - my drive is going to be long enough as it is. I might do it on the way down. Sorry :(

See you at the track tomorrow ;)

No problem. I misread your posting as "280" instead of "680". See you there.

This might be the only time in my life when I get lost in the crowd while driving a yellow super seven.
