  • Beginners HPDE At Willowsprings

The Golden Gate Lotus Club is doing a beginners track day at Willowsprings in December. As difficult as it is for me to admit to being a beginner, I have signed up. Apparently my previous experience of drifting a Dodge Coronet with a 440 on city streets does not really qualify as previous track experience.

The GGLC actually recognizes the heritage of our cars and welcomes Caterhams into the fold. They also put on some pretty cool events, usually in the Bay Area. The So Cal group has become active and are involved in making the track day happen. It is definitely a beginner oriented event with skid pad, autocross, and classroom sessions before going to the Streets of Willow and the main track. The event is on Dec 16, with a tech day/briefing in Alhambra on Nov 19.

They have room for more participants and would like to know if any of us are interested.

Well, it was a very good event. There were twenty drivers/cars and twenty instructors. Mostly new Loti, Elise and Evora, with one Caterham and one Lotus Seven Series-4, a Miata, and a Porsche. Good exercises working up to the Streets of Willow. I think it was enough of a success that more events will follow.
