  • Dyno Day 2012

    When:
    Saturday August 04 2012 10:00AM - 3:00PM or so.

    Where:
    Bisimoto Engineering
    1916 South Lynx Place
    Ontario, CA 91761

    Cost:
$150/hr. A car usually takes between one and two hours to map, mostly depending on how crappy the PC mapping software is. Tipping the tuner is optional, but appreciated.

    What to bring:
    • Car, w/ adequate fuel, fresh oil/plugs, clean or new filters.
    • Laptop w/ appropriate engine management software and cable. Magnus will bring an WIn XP laptop in case you only have a CD and a cable.
    • Money/checkbook/credit card for dyno time, lunch, and donation to tuner.

    Participants:
    1. Sean - confirmed
    2. prabjohns - confirmed
    3. magnusfeuer - confirmed
    4. Roll a 7 - confirmed
    5. mca - tentative
    6. slomove - awaiting final response...

    Spectators and support (hecklers):
    • moosetestbestanden
    • Randy Chase
    • Doug Liedblad

    WARNING
: Your engine may blow up due to unknown mechanical issues.

Neither Magnus Feuer or Bisimoto will take responsibility for ruined engines, and we will both have you sign a waiver before touching your car. My only words of consolidation is that this is the fourth time we've done this and no engines have been harmed yet.

Please make sure that your engine is freshly serviced. We will run it at full throttle for about 1-2 minutes in total. We will also hit peak RPM three-four times during the session. Make sure that your rev-limiter is set correctly.

Thought I'd get this started, just to gauge interest and whatnot. I'll edit the first post with relevant information as it becomes available, as these things can take months to plan, organize, and execute. If it does pan out, it will most likely occur in Spring or Summer, and I would guess it would be in Ontario again.

Hey Magnus - I have a new laptop!

Very interested. I'll bring my new Locost and I'll put her on the dyno this time. I'm interested to see what kind of power is going to the wheels from the R1 motor.

I am interested, too. Last time I did not get to it since time ran out but I would like to get a checkup eventually.

Once I get the TBs and all the work done I'm in. I'm hoping to swing the engine back in the car in the next couple of weeks, then some plumbing work, then find some dough, then the fuel system install. Late summer mo betta for me most likely.

I'd be happy to do another round at Bisimoto in Ontario (http://www.bisimoto.com/). We can probably setup a Saturday event. If you guys can figure out a date, I can do the booking.

                Bisi sounds xlnt to me.

Currently my confirmed schedule is pretty much open with the following exceptions: 1st 2 weeks of April, the week of 15 August and the last half of September / 1st week of October. O'wise open at present.

I'd love to do another run too if the date ends up working and there's time to fit me in.

That's six at this point - Aaron, Gert, Ron, Chris, Paul, and me. I'm sure with things planned this far in advance, we can decide upon a date that will accommodate all of us. We'll have to see how things shake out in the next few weeks for Chris and his Ammo-tor install first.

I'd probably put in my own car as well. I think it is time to see if the map is valid now that the engines has 30-40 hours on it.

Is it safe to assume we'll do this on a Saturday to accommodate work schedules? If so, I am working the last 4 Saturdays in June (9/16/23/30) so would like to avoid those.

                          Thanks

Okay, let's try it this way: 2012 August 11 (a Saturday)
That is the weekend before the Monterey Car Week events, same as last year's Dyno Day. From all of the comments above over the last month, this should suit everybody - except maybe Chris, and I think he might benefit from this line-in-the-sand approach as a motivator, anyway.
