  • Sevens at Zolder

Ispent the afternoon today with a friend at a track day at Zolder in Belgium. The event was sponsored by the Belgian version of AAA. Auto club members were invited to come out and get demonstration rides from experienced drivers on the track. It was free for members and entrants. Further the auto club paid for the gas of the track cars. The auto club contacted various car clubs and vendors to provide the demonstration cars and drivers. By far the most popular type of car at the event was various types of Seven variant.

Here's a shot from the inside the box of cars waiting to get onto the track:

The Donkevoorts are very nice cars:

The newer ones have 1.8L turbo Audi engines:

An interesting wing on the front of this one:

Not too far from my home town. I visited Zolder in 2004 with Stijn Luik, a Belgian Caterham owner who used to visit the CCC site back then.

Nice track and I would like to drive there myself. Back then I got a passenger ride, but I am not a good track passenger, just turns my stomach upside down.....

You should visit us again Slomove ... plenty of water these days so you would not dehydrate :-)

The UK Caterham Motorsport Raceclasses attended Zolder this summer. I was lucky to be able and spend some time with them on the track and managed to get within 3sec of the laptimes from the R300's. Need more practice ...

@Escondidodon: Next time you are in Zolder let me know! Are you located in Escondido itself? I have a customer in Carlsbad who I visit reguraly ... the world is a small place ...

        Cat7even asked?
Are you located in Escondido itself?
Technically no, we live in the county over Lake Hodges. But our address is Escondido.

Let me know the next time you visit Carlsbad.

Hey Stijn, good to see that you are still around here!

I go back to Aachen once a while but usually just a few days to see relatives etc. I will get in contact if I stay longer.

But really, if you happen to be in the area over the weekend let us know. Maybe we can arrange another Mt. Palomar blat around that. Have not done that for a long time and there are fabulous roads in the area.
