  • Time for an Angeles Crest drive

I only have a few months until my prison sentence begins, so need to get as much driving in as possible.

Anyone up for a ACH drive in the next month or so?

    UPDATE: We're meeting at Pepe's Taco's at 8:30am on Sunday May 17th

    Pepe's Taco's
    190 W Sierra Madre Ave

Most definitely. With next month you mean June? Or do you mean this month? I would not mind driving out next weekend. Well, to be more precise 7 days from now.....

Another question is if we can finally do the 2 or 3-day trip that was cancelled for President's day. At least the snow should not be an issue at that time. If there is interest for a Memorial Weekend trip I can start a separate thread.

    Gert

P.S.: Let us know where to visit you

I was thinking any time this month, next month, whenever we can pull everyone together, though next Saturday (9th) I have the car I have the Seven entered in the Culver City Car show

So many moto riders & boy racers have splattered themselves up there the chips are (rightly) all over it. 45 mph max, if you're lucky. There's always at least one toad that can't handle turning on a mountain road. You'll be lucky to see 35 mph.

Do lower Big T / Angeles Forest / upper Big T, unless you want to perform in the CHP Shrine Parade (complete w/ clowns driving jalopys) on the ACH. Then hang a left at ACH, get in line and putt up to Newcomb's. Don't forget to wave.:D

Edit: Be mindful of cyclists on Big T. We're up there most weekends.

I'm always interested in a drive, but for me it would have to be on Sundays as I won't be available any Saturday between now and Father's Day weekend at the end of June. We also have plans already for Memorial weekend.

So Mondo, are you serious or j/k about prison time? There are some nice Sevens roads near the Tehachapi facility ;)

I'm spending this weekend trying to buff out some new scratches on the hood of the Lexus:

              Stan, Stan, Stan...

We've talked about this a million times. No driving after your second bottle of Whiskey.

Congratulations then! Yes, if this is your first it will occassionally seem like you are in prison. But don't worry, in no time at all the kid will be old enough to drive and wreck your car too! My daughter was driving the Lexus when the accident occurred, and fortunately no one was hurt. The car is totaled though :(

(The two bottles of whiskey that Magnus mentioned were drunk after I found out about the wreck)

Clearly you failed to properly instruct her on how to open the bonnet.

REALLY Sorry to see that car like that Stan. The IS300 is a great car.
I'd be drinking too if it were mine.

Baby on the way Mopho.... be glad you got the car now, kids have a way of reprioritizing things (not all bad though).

My daughter took this thru a cornfield soon after she started taking it to school.

I'm around Memorial Weekend if anyone wants to cruise the nearby roads that weekend.... my place is always open for an afternoon get together (beer, soda, dip in pool if really hot, etc..)

That was all part of the plan

Anyhoo, any thoughts on a date to do this drive, next Sunday, the week after....?

Sorry to see the nice car go. It was a good support vehicle on the tour to Canada. But also good that nothing bad happened to your daughter (I assume). Well, at least at the accident. Not sure how her dad reacted....

Anyway, I suppose it may have helped my son that he still has only his sun-burnt '94 Escort station wagon to drive for the last 5 years (with sloppy stick shift, broken A/C and leaking heater core removed). Extremely un-cool but he keeps it in good working order because a lousy ride (I pay the insurance) is still better than a good walk. I also hope it will help him with a certain humble attitude in traffic and to appreciate a nice car if and when he finally can afford it himself.

But maybe I am just old fashioned. I forgot...when he is at home he really likes to borrow the Accord to take the girls to the movies and the like. Just too embarrassing with his old junker.....

I'm most likely out for this weekend due to a combination of Mother's Day and my wife's birthday plans.
