  • Infineon June 28/29

    Hi all,

NASA is running an HPDE weekend at Infineon on June 28/29. I have signed up as an instructor and I think Pierre may have done so as well. Anyone interested in blowing some cobwebs out of their sevens?

Umm, most of us are still using our cars, unlike a couple of real live downforce race car drivers I could mention.:D

Seriously? Maybe. I just got home (finally!) and I think there's an event at Buttonwillow the same weekend. Now that I'm competing for points and given the fact that I missed the last event, well, maybe. I can only throw out 2 weekends / year and that would make 2. I know it sells out and you know I really like the track but for now, please standby.
    Chris

I'm signed up. I'll poke the locals to see who else we can round up.

      Chris,

Come on up! We would love to hang with you!

      Doug,

What say you? Can you make it for this event?

      Cheers,

      Tom

Maybe is all I can say at the moment.

Chris - the Buttonwillow event is the week before, you have (hopefully) lots of money and no job = no excuse not to go to both events.

Although if you are like me the lots of money part is temporary.

Well, Chris, now that you are chasing the dream with Stokes, I'll let you get on with amassing points. Tom and I will grill some snossidges here in NorCal and think of you. We'll keep the sad whimpering to a minimum.

I think snossidges are a dog treat aren't they? An offer I can hardly refuse?

And I didn't say no, I said maybe. Problem is that, contrary to Doug's statement, I do have a (new) job and along w/ it comes no time off. That more than anything is liable to curtail me coming that way. We'll see.

Btw, the last time I saw Stokes at the track he was making lots of noise (literally - out of the car and in one) about getting a downforce car and going racing. He said he's after a race license (2 actually, NASA and SCCA) and a Radical or similar. He drove around Fontana in a French Radical-like car and rather liked it. So that leaves me holding up (pun intended) the Caterham end of things in TT in SoCal, a job I'm only too happy to perform.:D

I figured you would want some time off between contracts.

Better to be working than not.

Is this one local or are you off to some swamp?

If local when are we doing the foam seats?

Now there's an idea. If you come to Infineon I will make my services available, as the Resident Two Part Foam expert, to assist in seat fabrication. After experimenting with various techniques, some recommended (staying home) some not (air powered grinder), I have found an electric carving knife to be the weapon of choice whenever two part foam is involved. Add liberal quantities of duct tape and Bob's Your Uncle.

Note: trimming is best done with driver removed from seat, particularly if carving knife is in use.

I have an order coming from Pegaus and would be happy to add a bottle or two of foam. Who's in?

Old German saying: Better a paunch from drinking than a hump-back from working ;-) well maybe that is better in the Off-Topic section.

I would like to drive Infineon again but Rosie is leaving that weekend for a few weeks to the old country. I guess I better stay here...

                      In order:

I did, but there's the problem of my habits to be fed you see. Particularly my on-going project, which is most likely going to need quite a lot of food yet before fully grown.

                      Agreed.

The nearest swamp to my new work is Venice, Ca. Or should I say stinking s***hole bog?

Many chores 1st, and Willow Springs is weekend after next so not before then. This summer for sure.

NorCal: Thanks fellas, maybe is the best I can say at this time. Edit: Did you say duct tape? Why, that's NASCAR Carbon Fiber. I like CF!
