  • Autocross in San Diego Feb 2 (Groundhog Day)

If you are considering a 7, and live in the general proximity of San Diego, this would give you a chance to see one or more 7s in action and touch a 7 whilst querying the owner as regards his automotive lunacy/insanity level.

Arrive @ Qualcomm stadium by 10:30 AM and find the SCCA event in the south east lot. You should be able to spot any 7s in attendance.

I've recently joined because I am thinking a 7 might make a more reasonable autox car than my current C6 Vette. I live in Carlsbad and will come down to the autox if I can; who will be there, and with what cars? I'm 6'3", 195; I need to know if I can fit in a regular 7, or if I need an SV. My name is Doug, by the way, and I am currently autocrossing with the BMWCCA in San Diego (including on Feb. 17th at Qualcom.)

      Look for this car:

Brad (the guy in the background), and I (the guy getting in) will be there with a few other people. Just come up and introduce yourself. I don't know if there will be an SV there. Mine is in my garage getting its new engine installed up in Manhattan Beach. You are more than welcome to journey up to my place to see if the SV is better suited for you.

I'm 6'3, 200. Fit is no problem although I'd like to get a little lower in the car. There is a lowered floor option for that, although I'll be making a foam seat (car is used almost exclusively track-only) to achieve the same end.

You may want an SV (known to the English as a 'FB' - fat boy or fat body) if comfort is the thing. For autox stay you may want to stick w/ the lighter weight car.
